MONTANA FLY FISHING TRIP: TWIN BRIDGES

Our Price: $1,620.00

September 17-22, 2009

We will be visiting the southwestern part of Montana. This part of Big Sky country is blessed with large agricultural valleys ringed by snow-capped mountains and some of Montana's best trout fishing and waterfowl hunting. This is the real West. The local towns are filled with ranchers, miners and trout bums.

ITINERARY
Thursday: travel to Butte, MT; travel 50 minutes to Twin Bridges; visit the Winston Fly Rod factory; talk with Matt and discuss conditions and what you would like to do the next day; cocktails and dinner; get a good night sleep
Friday thru Monday: breakfast, guided fly fishing, lunch on the stream; cocktails and dinner
Tuesday: breakfast; travel home relaxed and reenergized
Longer stay is available. Please ask Mark for availability.

LODGING
Our host, Matthew Greemore, has been in the Montana fishing business since 1991. His parents, Don and Marsha moved to Montana in 1997 and purchased the Kings Motel. It was an old facility in desperate need of TLC. Don, Marsha and Matt worked very hard and cleaned the facility and gradually remodeled each of the rooms. The Kings Motel, located in the small town of Twin Bridges, has become a true Montana fish camp, complete with great food, very comfortable rooms and the all important hot showers. You will experience Montana in the low-key, down-home manner that once characterized the region decades ago.

The trip is based on double-occupancy accommodations; if you would like a quote for single occupancy, please ask Mark.

FISHING
Each evening Matt will talk with our group of anglers to decide the plan of attack for the next day. You can float one of the larger western rivers in SW Montana such as the Madison, Jefferson, Big Hole River, known for its beauty and world-class wild trout fishing, or the Beaverhead River, one of the finest tailwater fisheries in the country. You can walk wade on smaller meadow streams like the Ruby. You can pit your skills against wily spring creek trout on local spring fed streams.

Catch and Release: D&H and Flatline Outfitters strongly encourage catch and release of all trout.

Note To Novices: All are welcome! We are happy to accommodate the beginner fly angler. The guides are extremely patient and willing to share their knowledge. It is best, however, to arrive with a bit of knowledge about the sport. We recommend that you enroll in one of D&H's fly fishing schools with Brian or at the very least take a private casting lesson with Mark. Practice casting in your yard or at a local park. A very good and easy to read book is Essential Fly Fishing. Scientific Anglers has produced some very good DVDs.

DINING
Sample Menu:
Breakfast: Assorted cereals, fresh fruit platter, assorted juices, Marsha's homemade to-die-for Blueberry muffins (these aren't just batter with a few blueberries; they are true New England blueberry muffins)
Lunch: Burgers on the grill riverside, tossed salad, fresh fruit salad, homemade French onion dip and chips and Marsha's famous triple chocolate brownies.
Dinner: Montana T-Bone steak plate size with sauted onions and mushrooms, baked potato with all the trimmings, Garden Salad, hot rolls, and homemade dessert.

Please let us know of any diet restrictions, etc., so that we will be prepared to accommodate them.

LOCAL TOWNS
We will be staying in the small town of Twin Bridges. Sheridan is about 15 minutes up the road and offers some fun, local night life.

The average temperature for the time we will be in Twin Bridges has been 72 degrees for the high and the low has been 35 degrees.
